Event Coverage: Food Photography Workshop @ Sarang, Orchard Central

Food Photography, the Heartbeat of Food Blogs

The Heartbeat of Seoul has since shifted from Science Park a few months ago and it’s now situated on level 7 of Orchard Central.  Sarang, which means “love” in Korean, is here to spread some love in the air with their group of young and dedicated chefs from Korea.

No doubt I am always going around different places searching for good food but I am here at Sarang for something else.  I was invited by Eunice (pictured above) to a food photography workshop conducted by Dr. Leslie Tay of ieatishootipost to share with us some tips in taking food photos.

The food photography workshop was pretty interesting as some basics of food photography were covered as well as the one-third rule and the “S” curve.

After the short sharing of food photography tips, we were given sample portions of the food to try.  However, most of us were more interested in the actual servings of the food as they were being brought out of the room for us to take photos of it.

The food were placed at the bar seating area under those “big ass fans” for us to take photos.  The 2 fans sure did their job to keep us cool for the afternoon.

It’s a perfect place as there is enough natural lighting to make the food look good on photos.  I have to say that the heartbeat of every good food blog needs to have nice food photos so it will capture the stomach of readers!
