Food Review: Teeq Brasserie, Lot 10 Mall, Kuala Lumpur
Value For Money Fine Dining Rooftop Restaurant
Are you thinking of where to bring your date for a romantic fine dining dinner? Usually that will cost a bomb at upscale restaurants. However over at Teeq, located on the roof of Lot 10 shopping mall within the Bukit Bintang shopping district, you will be able to enjoy the service and ambiance of a fine dining restaurant yet not burst a hole in your wallet.

The restaurant has a very posh yet chic setting which is suitable for a casual dinner to a business dinner. Of course, the interior design will definitely “wow” your date.

On their menu, you can choose from Western dishes such as the Spaghetti Aglio Olio to dishes which have an Asian touch like the Tangy Spicy Thai Beef Salad. However if you like to have a value of money meal, I will recommend you to go for their 3-course set meal (RM 45++) which you can choose either from the Appetizer, Soup, Main Course or Dessert.

Complimentary crispy thin bread sticks were served before the start of the meal with onion chilli sauce usually used in Nasi Lemak. The sauce gave it a very Asian touch to it and it tasted slightly spicy with the aroma of onions.

My dear friends opened a bottle of red wine as they hosted the dinner. If you don’t know which wines are good to choose from, you can ask the friendly waiter for his recommendation and he will bring it out from the wine cellar.

I wasn’t too interested in their soup so I had their appetizer instead and ordered the Salmon Sashimi. Served with soy sauce and wasabi, the sashimi slices were very tender and fresh. Trust me, it just melts in my mouth delivering a tantalizing sensation on my taste buds.

For the main course, I had their signature Confit of Duck which is served with mash potatoes. The duck is very nicely done with its succulent and flavoursome gravy. I have to finish up every single bit of this delicious dish. If the duck is too salty for you, eating it with the mash potatoes can help to balance the taste nicely.

This is the Tiramisu with a Twist to end my meal on a sweet note. It’s very much chocolate covered rather than chocolate powder. The layers beneath it has a light touch of kahlua which went very well with the chocolate top layer. Hence, the taste of the kahlua isn’t too strong. The 2 chocolate oatmeal cookies at the top created a whole new dimension to this classic dessert.

Teeq is headed by Chef Leong Chin Onn who has over 15 years of culinary experience in various 5-star hotels. Over here, you can be assured that the quality of the food will always be at its best as he emphasizes a lot on the freshness of ingredients.
I’ll definitely be visiting Teeq whenever I’m dropping by Bukit Bintang soon. Overall, the food, ambiance and service is fantastic and it’s only at a fraction of the price of upscale restaurants.
