Chinese New Year - MOF’s Prosperity Yusheng

Although February is a short month, there are two special events, Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day. When we celebrate both occasions, we cannot miss out on the great food besides the company of family, friends and loved ones.

During Chinese New Year, we can’t forget about the Yusheng (raw fish platter) which is usually eaten on the 7th day of the Lunar New Year known as “人日” by the Chinese. This date symbolizes everybody’s birthday and we celebrate it by eating Yusheng.

Of course, Yusheng is usually eaten with family and friends to wish each other with auspicious Chinese phrases. I was at MOF, Suntec City with a some of the fellow beloved blogger friends for a “lo hei” of the Yusheng.

MOF’s Prosperity Yusheng contains the following ingredients:-

Salmon Slice
White sour ginger strips
Red sweetened ginger strips
Preserved mixed melon strips
Preserved melon strips
Preserved cucumber strips
Sweetened lime strips
Preserved leek strips
Pomelo
Chuka Kurage
Chuka Fukahire
Mash peanut
Fried sesame
Pok chui
Cinnamon powder
Pepper powder

After all the condiments are sprinkled on the platter, it’s time for the “lo hei”!! It is believe that the higher we mix the Yusheng, the higher chances of all the auspicious wishes will come true!

As we do the “lo hei”, auspicious phrases will be said to wish others best in health, luck, career, studies etc.

It is sure a fun and meaningful activity to enjoy the Yusheng together even with friends!

The Yusheng is very appetizing, tasty and addictive with the freshest ingredients, which packs a crunchy texture to every bite. It is reasonably priced as well given the exquisite Japanese touch of it from the ingredients used.

Valentine’s Day - Valentine Special Menu

Saint Valentine’s Day, also known as Valentine’s Day, is the day where couples, young and old, commemorate this day on the 14th February celebrating love and affection. This day has also become a trend where friends come together to celebrate their friendship.

MOF have come out with a Valentine Special Menu ($58.80 for 2 pax) for you and your loved ones to enjoy the meal together.

The 3-course set menu includes:-

Starter - Chawanmushi (2 cups)
Main - Special Set Meal with Seafood Obinmushi (2 sets with choice of teriyaki salmon slice / beef slice / unagi / salmon belly) (Includes Japanese baked rice, mix vegetables & mushrooms, pickles and seafood soup served in a teapot)
