F&N Presents Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 2!!
Youth Street Dance competition returns bigger and tougher this year!

With the success of the F&N Dance Delight Vol. 1 last year, F&N Sparkling Drinks is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 2 this year and this high-energy and exciting competition is to celebrate all things youth and dance. If you think last yearwas fantastic, expect greater adrenaline rush, greater crowd cheering creative dance moves and more overseas teams in the second installment this year!

With over $30,000 worth of prizes to be awarded to the top 3 winners and 40 dance crews competing in the preliminary round, it just got bigger and tougher this year! Similar to last year, the champion of the Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 2 will be flying to Osaka, Japan to represent Singapore in the inaugural Dance Delight Vol. 18!
If you have missed out the action of the Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 2 Preliminaries held at *SCAPE Sky Terrace Level 4 last Saturday on the 26th Feb, read on as I bring you the highlights!

It was a gloomy and rainy Saturday afternoon at *SCAPE as the Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 2 Preliminaries was held. However, it got bigger and better this year and that did not stop more than 1,000 youths who came to show their support for their friends and their favourite dance crews!

Did a giant left a few cans of F&N Sparkling Drinks lying around? Looking at it made me thirsty!

Thankfully, there are F&N people around giving out ice cold drinks to quench everyone’s thirst!

There are the F&N Groovy Grape, F&N Cool Ice-cream Soda, F&N Cheeky Cherryade, F&N Outrageous Orange and F&N Sarsi to choose from. The full range of F&N Sparkling Drinks are available all year round in various hypermarkets, supermarkets and convenience stores.

The rain did not dampen everyone’s spirits as cheerful F&N staffs are around giving out goodies…

… and F&N “canned” wet tissues collectibles with different “flavours”!

This year, throngs of fans gathered their support for Joyce and the Boys as they were the champion of last year’s F&N Dance Delight Vol. 1. They flew to Japan to represent Singapore and gained tremendous honour and awe-inspiring experience to dance with the best in the world. I bet everyone was looking forward to their performance in the evening being the defending champion.

Other dance teams were also ready to show off a move or two! Harlequinn (bottom) was happily posing for photos with their outrageous costume and make-up.

While other teams were busy touching up. It’s important to look and perform their best as only 20 teams will be selected to enter the finals out of the 40 teams in this preliminary round.

While waiting for the competition to start, F&N had a Great ShakeUp Challenge game challenge where the player with the highest score will win tickets to watch the Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 2 Finals happening at the Wave House at Sentosa on the 12th of March (details at the end of post).

You won’t want to shake a can of F&N soft drink as it will explode with gas. However, in this game, you got to shake as fast as possible within 30 seconds to score as high points as possible. I couldn’t resist the fun game and started playing as well!

I scored 157 on my first try. Not too bad I guess!

As the rain carried on in the evening, the first half of the Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 2 Preliminaries was held at the *Scape Gallery Level 5 where the After Party will be held later in the night. This event was hosted by the ever humourous local rapper and host, Sheikh Haikel, who always never fail to entertain the crowd with his jokes.

Dance teams of 2 to 8 in a group must choreograph and perform a 3-minute routine at the Singapore Dance Delight Vol. 2 Preliminaries. The judges for the contest are familiar and respected names in the dance community. They are Kenny Low, Founder, O School; Ryan Tan, Creative Director, O School; and Hu Pei Zhen aka An An from Da’ Street Soulz (Funkamania 2006, Champions).

Here are some of the dance teams flaunting their moves in front of the judges. They definitely got the crowd cheering with their fast and furious moves.

After the first half of the competition, the rain has stopped and it was shifted back to the main stage. The arrangement was welcomed as more than 1,000 youths are not able to fit into the the *Scape Gallery Level 5. I’m sure the dance teams are more than happy to be able to perform in front of a bigger audience.

It was a cooling night to be seating out here watching the various teams performing all sorts of different kind of dance from hip hop to contemporary to dance.

Here we have the defending champion, Joyce and the Boys who got the whole crowd cheering for them so loudly!

The Herlequinn strutting their unique dance moves and it got me so eager to predict their next sequence.

The only couple team Burning Bums who “wowed” the judges and the entire audience with their lovely dance moves.

We have friends coming from Thailand too, The Zoo. They rallied quite a lot of support from fans with their explosive energy dance moves.

At the end of the competition, everyone was waiting patiently for judges to release the results of the preliminary round where 20 teams of the 40 will be selected to enter the finals.
