Food Review: Pizza Hut, City Square Mall

First and for most, I have to say that it’s my first time at City Square Mall and I am totally awed by how magnificent this shopping mall is!!

I reached City Square Mall at about 6.15pm and shopped around the shopping mall as the dinner will start only at 7pm.  I realize that this shopping mall have so many shops and restaurants and it is so accessible from the MRT station.

After walking around for a while, I met ladyironchef aka Brad outside Pizza Hut at 7pm.  There were quite a big group of us but all the cool and fun people are sitting at the same table with me! (oops! haha…)

The ladies from the Pizza Hut marketing team were at the Pizza Hut to welcome us as we walked in.  Shortly after we were seated, they came to take our orders for our drinks and served the salad to us.

First to arrive is the Chicken Oriental Salad with the sweet, sour and spicy sauce.  I’ve tried this salad before and I would say that this is a classic and can never go wrong.  The sauce complimented very well with the chicken and the healthy mix of vegetables is fresh and crunchy to the bite.

Next, we were served the Seafood Tofu Salad with the Italian sauce.  Funny thing is that the Seafood Tofu chunks tasted more like fishcake to us.  I won’t say that it’s a bad thing but at least we did relate it to the taste of fishcake and it went pretty well with the Italian sauce as well as the crispy noodle.  Oh, did I forget to mention that there are straw mushrooms in it?  Overall, this salad is very interesting with all the different combination of the ingredients and sauce. Thumbs up for it!

Thankfully, my Passion Fusion arrived just in time before I get thirsty with the upcoming appetisers.  I love the flavour of the freshly brewed tea with the slight hint of passion fruit syrup in it.  It isn’t too sweet and it’s very refreshing glass of ice fruit tea.  Just nice for my liking.

This is my all time favourite Baked Beef Balls which I’ll never fail to have it as I love the hot, sticky and creamy mozzarella cheese with the tasty, juicy, mouth watering beef balls.  However, it was slightly cold when it was served and caused the cheese to harden slightly and the beef balls didn’t turn out to be as good as usual.  I would suggest that this dish to be served hot right out from the oven and I’ll still continue to order this whenever I visit Pizza Hut.

I guess most of us could not deny that the Chicken Riblets was one of the best dish we tasted.  It is fried till golden brown with a very crispy layer on the outside leaving the goodness of it trapped beneath the surface of this golden little thing.  Upon sinking my teeth into it, I can feel the juice oozing out and its flavours sparkle against my taste buds like wildfire.  This sure is an all time favourite among the young and old.

This is Pizza Hut’s new creation, the Soft Shell Crabbiatta spaghetti.  It’s basically deep fried soft shell crab served over spaghetti with their very own special spicy sauce.  It’s a fusion pasta with a very Singaporean kinda style as it’s spicy and there’s crab.  However for me, an experienced pasta lover, I will say that this dish doesn’t suit my taste buds as I’ve never like my pasta to go along with a spicy sauce.  I would say that the soft shell crab went very well with the spicy sauce as most of us can connect it to our national dish, chili crab.  As for the pasta, the taste with the sauce wasn’t to my liking.  Maybe you chili lovers out there may like it with the pasta.

Dana (from Nuffnang SG) said that she ever tried the Soft Shell Crabbiatta spaghetti and didn’t like it so she chose to have the Basil Crayfish spaghetti instead.  It surely looks much better and I wonder how it taste like.  So Dana, what’s your verdict for this?  If it’s good, I’ll definitely having this on my next visit to Pizza Hut!!

After a few bites into the Soft Shell Crabbiatta spaghetti, I rejected it and sent it back and ordered a Beef Lasagne and a Chicken Ole Baked Rice to share with Eevon and two other ladies.

Both dishes were great and all of us were loving the cheese on top of it.  The Beef Lasagne was delicious with its tantalizing sauce sandwiched between each layer of pasta.  The Chicken Ole baked rice was not too bad either.  However, I did find the rice a little too dry and “over baked” to my liking.  Other than that, the chicken and mushroom remained juicy and went well with the cheese and rice.

How can we forget about pizzas at Pizza Hut?!!  Next up, we have the Meat Galore Thin Crust Pizza!!  It’s my first time trying out their thin crust pizza and I really love the feel of it when I munch on it.  At first, all of us thought that this is gonna be very filling but the crust proved us wrong.  It’s very thin, super crispy and it’s baked till it’s slightly toasted giving a totally brand new meaning to pizza.

It’s very light, don’t have the filling flourish taste, crispy and crunchy!!  I simply fell in love with it at my first try with their thin crust pizza.

Did I also mention that it is topped with savoury and succulent chicken ham, pepperoni, minced beef and cabanossi sausages all on just one pizza?!  Oh my goodness, this is surely one pizza for meat lovers!  I have to say the combination of all the meat with the mozzarella cheese on this crispy crust pizza deserves both thumbs up.

When I thought that it is finally over, the Pizza Hut’s signature Warm Chocolate Cake with Ice Cream was served in front of us.  First thought into my mind was, sinful, but who cares when such an irresistible sweet treat is lay right in front of me.  I lay my fork into the warm chocolate cake and out came the warm, molten lava, oozing out.

For a sweet tooth like me, I ate quite a portion of this sinful delight and I would say that this is surely good.  It’s a must have combination with ice-cream and it will always be good.  What more can I say?  Love it to the max!!

How can one only be told of the legend of the warm chocolate cake?  The idea of brownie certainly came from there.  Wait!! Why is brownie even mentioned here? At Pizza Hut, you can’t miss out A Tale of Two Temptations as it recounts the romantic story of the brownie cheesecake falling in love with the banana chocolate mousse cake.

On a night, drizzling with chocolate sauce, both cakes met in front of a sacred cherry and I took a bite into the brownie cheesecake… and it left a sensation in my mouth which I could not utter.  I took another bite of the banana chocolate mousse cake and I couldn’t resist the lovely kiss I had with it.  Feeling hungry for more, I ate the scared cherry up too!  It was the best love story for the night and it ended off my dinner experience at Pizza Hut with all the wonderful fellow foodies.

PS: To end off this entry, I would like to thank ladyironchef for the invite to this wonderful food tasting session at as well as the warm and friendly Marketing staffs at Pizza Hut for this great dining experience.  :)
